Protein level in pigeon forage is around 17%, which is the optimal level for egg laying and growth performance.
First: Fattening Feeds
Normal Pigeon Feed of 17% Protein
Feeding Rate: 120 gm per bird daily
These are scientifically formulated feeds prepared specifically to support all growth stages of both local and imported birds. They provide high levels of protein and essential amino acids that are crucial for growth, continuous repair of bone and muscle tissue, disease resistance, as well as squab development and egg production. In low-protein forage, birds exhibit reduced disease resistance, require longer recovery periods, and experience higher mortality rates. During the early stages of growth, protein requirements are particularly high, and any deficiency will result in stunted growth.
It is equally important to provide other essential ingredients such as vitamins and minerals. These nutrients help regulate biological processes and maintain the overall equilibrium of the bird. These vitamins are added in precise amounts and include:
Vitamin A: Enhances productivity levels, promotes growth, and strengthens disease resistance. It is also essential for proper eye function.
Vitamin B: Plays a vital role in feed assimilation and metabolic processes.
Vitamin C: Primarily supports stress resistance, enhances the bird’s ability to resist illness and temperature variations, and promotes growth.
Vitamin D: Has a direct effect on the assimilation of calcium and phosphorus, and is critical for bone development.
Second: Feeds for Carrier Pigeons and Display Pigeons
Yembroos® Premium Pigeon Feed
Premium Pigeon Feed 17% Protein
Feeding Rate: 100 gm per bird daily
Yembroos Animal Feeds India Private Limited provides high-quality specialized pigeon feed for carrier pigeons and display pigeons. The feed is blended and re-blended six times to ensure complete homogenization of all feed materials, which drastically improves consistency and reduces variation in the overall production line by a minimum of ten times.
This product line can produce all kinds of feeds for all breeds of pigeons, including broiler pigeons (both local and imported), carrier pigeons, and display pigeons. Yembroos’ Animal Nutrition Scientists guarantee conformity to international standards.
These multiple-blended feeds are characterized by their consistency and precision. Low-temperature, high-speed grinding of feed increases its nutritional value and ensures thorough disinfection of the feed material.
These feeds are homogeneously proportioned to include protein, carbohydrates, and energy, in addition to vitamins and minerals that are essential for growth and proper biological functions throughout the body.
The grains in these multiple-blended feeds contain high levels of energy that enable pigeons to fly for long distances with optimal stamina.
Benefits of Yembroos® PREMIUM PIGEON FEEDS to Breeders:
- Cost Efficiency: Significant reduction in feed wastage, leading to lower production costs and increased profitability.

- Quality Assurance: Feed quality is guaranteed by our Research & Development Department, conforming to the strictest international standards.
Feeding Management
Feeding Troughs:
Should be provided with suitable covers or barriers to prevent contamination.
Drinking Troughs:
Should be deep and adequately protected from contamination.
Feed Offering Method and Quantity Measurement:
Feed should be offered twice daily—morning and evening. Breeders should provide enough feed to be consumed within one to two hours, after which any remaining feed should be discarded. There should be sufficient troughs to accommodate all pigeons simultaneously.
If a large amount of feed remains, the quantity should be reduced. Conversely, if pigeons finish the feed within an hour and search for more, the feed amount should be increased. With experience, breeders will develop the ability to accurately estimate the proper daily amount needed for their flock.
Important Points to Consider When Feeding Pigeons:
- Pigeons cannot efficiently consume mixtures of fine particles. Ground grains are less hygienic, absorb moisture readily, and spoil faster. For all these reasons, it is highly recommended to use Yembroos® Pigeon Feeds.
- Pigeons consume more feed when the nutritional value of the feed is low and when they are raising squabs.
- Young squabs are more severely affected when low-nutritional feed is provided.
- Pigeon squabs typically need five to six weeks to develop flying ability. This timeline depends on the quality of feed and the attentiveness of parent pigeons, as parental care varies among individuals.
- Feed should never be offered on the floor, as it may become contaminated with droppings, potentially causing diseases.
- Feed consumption is higher during winter compared to summer months.
- Coarse sand and mineral mixture should always be available for pigeons to support digestion and mineral supplementation.
