Alfalfa Pellets for Animal Nutrition-Yembroos®
We manufacture a comprehensive range of premium Alfalfa Pellets designed to meet diverse animal feed requirements. Our product line includes both 8 mm and 10 mm pellet variants, tailored for use in the forage and livestock nutrition sectors.
Production Overview – From Field to Pellet
In India, alfalfa cultivation typically begins around November and continues through April. Approximately 45 days post-sowing, the first harvest is ready. The harvested green alfalfa undergoes a natural drying process known as sun curing, spread over farmland under controlled conditions to retain its vibrant green color and nutrient density. It’s critical that the leaves do not lose chlorophyll or turn yellow during this phase.
Over a week of careful monitoring and handling, the fresh green mass transforms into dried alfalfa hay. This hay is then transported to our processing unit, where it first undergoes thorough sieving to eliminate dust and impurities.
The coarse stems are mechanically separated, leaving behind soft, dehydrated leaves and fine stems. These are milled into a uniform powder form. The resulting meal is exposed to steam at 100°C for 8 minutes, which neutralizes any harmful microbes and enhances digestibility.
This cooked meal is then pressed into pellets using a high-temperature extrusion process, where the material reaches approximately 123°C due to the mechanical action inside a 22-foot-long extruder barrel. Finally, the pellets are cooled to ambient temperature, stabilizing the moisture content below 12%.
We produce Alfalfa Pellets in standardized formats of 8 x 25 mm and 10 x 25 mm, ideal for both livestock and poultry feeding purposes.
Indian Alfalfa – Distinctive Qualities
Dry Matter Recovery: Out of every 100 kg of green alfalfa, only about 10–15 kg is recovered as usable hay, depending on ambient humidity and internal moisture in the plants.
Climatic Influence: Unlike countries with limited direct sunlight like Canada or Northern Europe, India benefits from full-spectrum sunlight and a balanced seasonal cycle—enhancing the nutrient profile of its crops.
Nutritional Superiority: The combination of fertile soil and seasonal variation makes Indian-grown alfalfa richer in vital nutrients compared to counterparts grown in cooler regions.
Year-Round Availability: Although alfalfa must be harvested before the monsoon (November–April), the processed meal can be stored and pelletized throughout the year, ensuring a consistent supply.

Please note that the nutritional profile of our Alfalfa Pellets may vary depending on the season, climatic conditions, and the nutritional content of the raw material (green alfalfa) at the time of harvest. Such natural variation is unavoidable and should be considered normal. Minor fluctuations in crude protein, fiber, and other parameters are to be expected and accepted as part of agricultural feed products.
